The vision

The vision for the website redevelopment was to create an online presence that embodied YourCH’s mission of providing progressive, inclusive, and accessible healthcare. The new website had to serve as:
  1. A welcoming portal: Vibrant, warm, and user-friendly, with clear navigation and engaging storytelling.
  2. An accessibility leader: Meeting the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), providing translation tools, adjustable font sizes, and other features that enable equitable access for users of all backgrounds and abilities.
  3. A functional tool: Incorporating seamless booking systems, intuitive navigation, and flexible content modules to streamline operations for both users and staff.
This ambitious project required a blend of cutting-edge design, meticulous planning, and a deep understanding of the diverse needs of YourCH’s target audiences. These included existing clients, Darebin community members, and healthcare professionals who refer patients to YourCH’s services.

The process

To bring this vision to life, Butterfly worked closely with YourCH to ensure every stage of the project aligned with the organisation’s goals and values.

  1. Research and design
The project began with extensive user research and stakeholder feedback, ensuring that the design reflected YourCH’s values and the needs of its audiences. Figma, a collaborative design tool, served as a central hub for presenting concepts, gathering input, and fine-tuning designs.
    • The visual style prioritised warmth, vibrancy, and inclusivity, using colourful imagery and compelling storytelling to highlight YourCH’s community impact.
    • Dynamic features, such as a flexible event calendar and a news feed integrating social media, were conceptualised to keep the website engaging and up-to-date.
  2. Development
    The implementation phase included:
    • Enhancing accessibility features, such as adjustable font sizes, translation tools, and compliance with WCAG standards.
    • Streamlining service navigation with a responsive design and intuitive menus that minimise clicks and maximise usability.
    • Integrating interactive elements, including booking tools and dynamic calls-to-action, to encourage user engagement.
  3. Project management
Transparent communication and a structured escalation process were critical to maintaining alignment with YourCH’s objectives. Regular updates, combined with proactive problem-solving, ensured that the project stayed on track despite complexities.
